In 1984, Chevrolet teamed up with Chattanooga-based Choo Choo Customs to build a modern successor to the legendary SS. This vehicle is one of only about 1,309 examples built for the 1984 model year. It bridges the gap between classic Detroit muscle and utilitarian design, complete with an official Choo Choo Customs recertification decal proudly affixed to the driver’s door jamb to confirm its elite heritage.
Exterior & Styling
Distinctive Nose: Authentic Choo Choo Designs aerodynamic front fascia reminiscent of the Monte Carlo SS.
Aggressive Stance: Functional cowl-induction style hood paired with striking side bed rails and tinted side markers.
Fresh Paint: Striking blue finish accented by crisp, newly replaced factory-style SS decals.
Refreshed Brightwork: Fully replaced chrome trim, fresh door, window, and tailgate seals.
Classic Rolling Stock: Period-correct 15? eight-slot Corvette alloy wheels.
Fresh Rubber: 235/60 Cooper Cobra Radial G/T white-letter tires with 2021 date codes.
Note: A minor, authentic-to-age crack is present on the front bumper trim piece.
Powertrain & Performance
Upgraded Heart: Replaced under previous ownership with a stout Jasper Engines 350 cubic-inch 5.7L V8.
Enhanced Breathing: Topped with an Edelbrock carburetor, matching intake manifold, and a Delco-Remy HEI distributor.
Exhaust Note: Outfitted with short-tube headers and a dual exhaust system featuring premium Flowmaster mufflers for a deep, throaty rumble.
Performance Drivetrain: Mated to a replacement four-speed 700R4 automatic transmission with overdrive, enhanced by a shift kit and an aftermarket stall-style torque converter for crisp, aggressive gear changes.
Robust Cooling: Upgraded with a heavy-duty three-row radiator to keep everything running cool.
Ride Control: Equipped with power steering and SuperLift adjustable rear air shocks for a level, smooth stance.
Stopping Power: Assured by power-assisted front disc brakes and rear drums.
Driver’s Cockpit & Instrumentation
Command Center: Features a classic four-spoke steering wheel mounted on a comfortable tilting column.
Period Instrumentation: Includes a factory 85-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and auxiliary gauges.
Supplemental Gauges: Fitted with a precise aftermarket Sunpro oil pressure readout to the right of the steering column.
Note: The factory analog tachometer and factory oil pressure gauge are currently inoperative.
Odometer Note: The five-digit odometer currently displays 93k miles, and due to its status as a 42-year-old classic vehicle, the title is safely designated as "exceeds mechanical limits" to protect its historic pedigree.
Interior & Cabin Comfort
Total Refresh: Brand-new dash pad, fresh headliner, and plush color-matched carpets with repainted trim.
Comfort Seating: Split-bench seat expertly reupholstered in period-accurate blue cloth and vinyl.
Modern Amenities: Power windows, power locks, and custom El Camino-branded floor mats.
Ice Cold AC: Factory air conditioning converted to modern R134a refrigerant.
Upgraded Audio: Bluetooth-capable Sony head unit paired with premium Pioneer speakers.
